President
- Marlene Cohen, EdD, BCBA is
a Research Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Applied
and Professional Psychology of Rutgers University. Marlene is also
the Director of Adult and Transitional Services at the Douglass
Developmental Disabilities Center, and a part-time faculty member
of the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University.
President-Elect
- Lori Bechner, MA, BCBA
is the Clinical Director of the Educational Partnership for
Instructing Children (EPIC),
a private nonprofit school serving children with autism and
related disorders in Paramus, NJ. She holds a Master’s degree in
clinical psychology (behavior analysis track) from the University
of Massachusetts (Dartmouth), and is a Board Certified Behavior
Analyst.
Secretary - Patrick R. Progar, PhD, BCBA received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin –
Milwaukee and is currently Associate Professor of Psychology at
Caldwell College in NJ. Pat completed a postdoctoral fellowship in
Applied Behavior Analysis and Developmental Disabilities at
Children’s Seashore House from 1995-1997. His research interests
include functional assessment methodology and treatment
development and a number of translational research topics,
including behavioral economics and preference assessments, the
development of cooperation, and the influence of behavioral
history on choices behavior.
Representative at Large (2 Years) - Linda Meyer, EdD,
MPA is Executive Director of the NJ Center for Outreach
and Services for the Autism Community (COSAC) and a consultant in
private practice (Linda S. Meyer Consulting LLC). She is the
co-founder of the Alpine Learning Group in Paramus, NJ and served
as its founding executive director from 1989 until 2005. She
serves on the professional advisory boards of several schools and
agencies serving individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Linda
has presented at regional, national, and international
conferences, and authored articles and book chapters on various
special education, nonprofit management, and personal fitness
topics. She has taught doctoral and masters level students in
behavior analysis, educational, and clinical psychology programs
and is currently an adjunct professor at Caldwell College, in
Caldwell, NJ.
Representative at Large (2 Years) - Kenneth F. Reeve,
PhD, BCBA is
an Associate Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at
Caldwell College. Ken received his Ph.D. in learning and behavior
analysis with a specialization in developmental disabilities from
the City University of New York. His research interests are in the
areas of concept formation, infant imitation, language
development, and teaching applications for children with autism
and other developmental disabilities. Ken also serves as a program
consultant to early intervention agencies for children with
pervasive developmental disorders.
Representative at Large (1 Year) - John L. Brown, PhD,
BCBA is
Director of REED Academy, an education and treatment program for
children with autism, in Garfield, NJ. His research interests
include stimulus control and applied behavior analytic language
instruction for individuals with autism.
Membership Chair - Sharon A. Reeve, PhD, BCBA is
an Associate Professor at Caldwell College where she also directs
the Graduate Programs in Applied Behavior Analysis. Her
research interests include stimulus control and social skills
training for children with autism. Dr. Reeve consults for school and home-based ABA
programs and serves on various advisory boards for agencies and
schools involved with autism treatment. She is the past Vice
President of NJABA and current Vice President of the Association
for Science in Autism Treatment.
Government Affairs Chair - Suzanne Buchanan, PsyD, BCBA
earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from Long Island
University and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a
licensed psychologist. She has worked in the autism field for more
than ten years. Dr. Buchanan provides COSAC with clinical
leadership and training. Her responsibilities include supervision
of the provision of applied behavior analytic services to families
and professionals, reviewing agency documents and policies for
consistency with best practice, and advising advocacy efforts from
a clinical perspective.
Consumer Representative - Mary Beth Walsh, PhD has a
doctorate in theology and ethics from Union Theological
Seminary in NYC and serves on the Board of the Association for
Science in Autism Treatment (ASAT). She teaches in the Master
of Arts Program in Pastoral Ministry at Caldwell College and works
part time as a Pastoral Associate at St. Joseph's parish in
Maplewood. She is the mother of two children, an 8-year-old
son who has autism, and a 13-year-old one who does not.
Treasurer
- Tina Sidener, PhD, BCBA
is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Caldwell College and a
consultant at Garden Academy. She received her PhD from Western
Michigan University and completed a predoctoral internship at
Kennedy Krieger Institute. Her clinical and research interests
include assessment and treatment of stereotypy, feeding disorders,
functional assessment, language training, and treatment
acceptability and adherence.
Conference Chair - Gregory S. MacDuff,
PhD is Co-Executive Director of the Princeton Child
Development Institute. He is Adjunct Professor in the Department
of Applied Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas and the
Department of Psychology at The College of New Jersey. He has authored
articles and book chapters on incidental teaching, photographic activity
schedules, staff training strategies, prompt- and prompt-fading
procedures, behavioral intervention for adults with autism and
intervention models in residential settings. He has lectured nationally
and internationally, and has provided consultation and training to
a variety of public and private programs.
