HISTORY
NJABA
Organization Background
The
New Jersey Association for Behavior Analysis (NJABA), an affiliated
chapter of the Association
for Behavior Analysis, International, was founded to
promote the discipline of behavior analysis in New Jersey. Our
first development meeting was held in 2003 at Rutgers, Douglas
Developmental Disabilities Center. Since that time, NJABA became incorporated, earned tax exempt status, elected officers,
developed this website, completed a number of newsletter issues,
exceeded the 300 member mark (thank you to all members!), and
held successful annual conferences and professional workshop days
throughout the year. For details, see below.

2008
On
Friday
March 14, 2008,
Dr. Gina Green presented on evaluating treatment claims
for autism and teaching matching and discrimination skills for
learners
at Caldwell College as part of NJABA's Professional Workshop
series. Dr.
Green signed copies of her books at the conclusion of the
workshop.
2007
In October, Dr. Caroline Eggerding from Bancroft Neurohealth spoke
on autism diagnosis.
The
3rd Annual NJABA Conference in Behavior Analysis was a great
success! Thanks to all presenters, volunteers, and attendees! In
August 2007, keynote speaker Dr. Jon Bailey launched this two
full-day conference of workshops at Rutgers University Busch
Campus Center in Piscataway. Nearly 200 professionals, parents,
and students attended!
In March, NJABA sent out its first formal nomination for officers
ballots to full voting members. In June, the first formal
Board of Directors was in place as a result of the election.
The February 23, 2007,
all-day workshop "Ethics and Behavior Analysis" at Caldwell
College by Dr. Jon Bailey and Dr. Mary Burch was engaging and
informative. By popular demand, Dr.
Bailey will be back on Saturday, August 11, 2007 to repeat this
workshop. Dr. Bailey has also agreed to keynote the first day of
our Annual NJABA Conference on Friday, August 10.
2006
The 2nd
Annual NJABA Conference in Behavior Analysis was a great
success! Thanks to all presenters, volunteers, and
attendees! In August 2006, keynote speaker Dr. Carl Binder
launched this two full-day conference of workshops at Rutgers
University Busch Campus Center in Piscataway. Nearly 200
professionals, parents, and students attended!
Our
website reached a milestone! On May 17, 2006, we reached the
5,000 hit mark! Not bad for one year online...
NJABA
Members Meeting - Thank you to all members who came to our
meetings at the COSAC conference in Atlantic City on Saturday May
20 and the one at the Association for Behavior Analysis
International conference in Atlanta, GA on May 28 at 8am.
Dr.
William L. Heward, co-author of the seminal book in our
field Applied Behavior Analysis, presented the
exciting workshop "What Can Behavior Analysis Offer
Education?" at Caldwell College in Caldwell, NJ on
Friday, February 24, 2006
. Over 100 registrants attended.
2005
The first NJABA
Networking Social was held on Friday, October 21, 2005 at the
Hyatt Regency hotel in New Brunswick, NJ. It was a nice
opportunity to meet, speak with, and just have a good time with
other members of the NJABA community!!
We added the Revised Guidelines for Consumers of Applied
Behavior Analysis Services to Individuals with Autism and Related
Disorders from the Autism Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Association
for Behavior Analysis to the web links page.
The

August 2005, keynote speaker Dr. Sandra Harris launched this
full-day conference of workshops at Rutgers University Busch
Campus Center in Piscataway. About 200 professionals, parents, and
students attended!
Our first NJABA newsletter, titled Current Dimensions
includes research article reviews, book reviews, and
information about the current state of certification in behavior
analysis.
2004
NJABA's
first members
meeting was held at the COSAC
conference in Atlantic City in May, 2004.
